Wait!

"Since ancient time no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him." Isaiah 64:4
Wait! Wait! Comes the scream from behind. Unsure if the the little boy is speaking to her the young woman turns around. As her blue eyes meet his, "Thank you," comes from his lips. "Thank you for thinking of me. Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for loving me enough to give me to a family that loves me and cares for me as their very own." Tears filled her eyes and began to run down her cheek as she remembered back 8 years to her senior year of high school and the dreaded homecoming dance where she made one mistake and her life changed forever. 4 weeks later she found out she was pregnant, 8 weeks later she chose life and decided to give up the baby for adoption, and 6 months later instead of walking across the stage at graduation she delivered a little baby boy into the loving arms of a family unable to have children of their own.
"Wait!" is what God told her the Sunday morning before the homecoming dance. "Wait!" is what God told her the day she went to have an abortion. "Wait." is what she did after she realized that not following God could and would lead to life changing consequences. "Wait!" is the first word she heard from the little boy that she gave life.
"Wait! Wait!" It's so hard to wait. But if God is telling us to wait we should. He has something better for us. He has a plan that is unbeknownst to us and way better than our wildest dreams. Is God telling you to wait? He's told me, and at first I didn't obey because I thought I knew better. But Oh, if only I would have waited. If only I could take back my times of compulsion, but I can't. All I can do is learn from them and just wait.
"Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for you!" Isaiah 30:18. "Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." Psalm 27:14.
